IHAD – Information for the Public

The Queenie Foundation announces its 16th annual observance of International Homeles Animals' Day, Saturday, August 20, Hubbard Green, Hubbard Street, Glastonbury (shown as Green Park on the map below), 3 - 7:30 pm. This is a free event. [IHAD map] New this year: Pooch Parade and Costume Contest! Prizes for the Best Little Dog (0 - 20 lbs), Best Dog in the Middle (21 - 50 lbs), Best Big Dog (50 lbs and over) and Best Companion/Guardian Look-a-Like (be creative!). Celebrity judges are Clark Denis, rockin' lead singer from local band, DiamondBack, Jason Rojas, State Representaive 9th Assembly District and Bob Kester from Springfield's own Rock 102. Meet adoptable dogs and cats, eat fabulous food from Hartford's Lion's Den, and listen to groovy music provided by local duo, Unsung Heros. Raffles, vendors and services offered are ear cleaning and nail clipping, paw reading and massage from Zodiapet, reiki for you and your companion from Cosmos & Sage, healing for the whole family, and paw prints in paint. The event will conclude with an Interfaith Blessing of the Animals and a candlelight remembrance of the companion animals who were killed in shelters this year.
